2021 will certainly be remembered by our family as the year of our big move and home renovation! There have been trying moments, and also many beautiful moments filled with gratitude. Making this house into our home will take time, but with adding curtains I am feeling our vision come to life!
The minute that I found Uptown Drapes, I knew that I wanted to work with them- the entire process has been FABULOUS and you can read a previous post about working with them HERE!
There are a few key ways that I layer in the cozy, homey, inviting feeling. I think that lighting, curtains/ window treatments, area rugs, and art make such an impact! These things take time to choose, collect, and curate. Once you get a feel for your personal style, and the way that you want your home to feel, don’t rush these important choices! Layer them in as you go, to make a cohesive flow.
You can find lots of curtains ideas on Pinterest for curtains behind bed, curtains over blinds, curtains bay windows, and so much more — so take some time to browse to get a feel for what you like best!
Window treatments were something that I thought long and hard about. I’ve always loved the classic feel of roman shades, and I think that they are a perfect way to add in fun fabrics. Pops of color, interesting prints, some added whimsy and playfulness in every room! We used Uptown Drapes for our custom roman shades, and I am truly thrilled with how they turned out!
I decided on a pattern that reflected each kiddo for their bedrooms, and I feel the roman shades add so much personality into each of their spaces. With a color scheme in mind for each room, and I chose to go with a pattern that was different than their wallpaper or bedding — I really feel like this adds a sense of whimsy and playfulness into their spaces. These prints just add to the custom feel of the window treatments, which was really fun for me to pick out!
In Aiden’s room I went with a wide stripe fabric. This had a really classic feel to it, which I felt would grow up well with him as he is our oldest, and approaching the teen years!
Sweet Addie’s room is really one of my favorite’s in our home! There’s something so timeless and vintage feeling about her light blue bedroom. Her wallpaper really set the stage for this space. I went with a classic blue plaid for her bedroom, and I really feel that it plays well with her floral wallpaper! I’m so happy to see my girl love her space so much!
Apple’s room is girly and pink and a reflection of our sweet middle daughter. Her wallpaper is pink floral, and her window treatments are a fun pink paisley. These feel the most whimsical to me, and I am in love with the personality that they add to her space!
Ainsleigh’s are not pictured here, but I recently shared them on social media! Her wallpaper is a light blue floral, and her roman shades are a deeper blue floral. I think this is one of those areas of design that I went more adventurous with! Mixing florals can be tricky, but I think that this combination came out so beautiful!
I’ll also be sharing curtains living room, curtains kitchen, curtains room for our bedroom and more, as we continue to add more window treatments to each room!
Whether choosing curtains, shades, or other window treatments, don’t be afraid to be playful with your fabric choices. You can add so much personality to a space through colors and prints on fabric!
XO,
Casey Wiegand
