It’s been so much fun sharing reveals of each room in our home as we finish renovating and decorating! Our breakfast area is one of the most homey spaces in our house — the perfect space to gather as a family!
One of the many features that I love about our home, are all of the separate rooms downstairs that we can create dedicated spaces within. We have an island with bar stools and a table in our kitchen, a formal dining room, and our breakfast area to choose from based on the occasion and how many people we are hosting.
There’s something about the breakfast nook that feels extra cozy and reminds me of our old house. We brought this table with us, and had refinished it, and I love it in this corner of our home! The built in cabinetry with glass front cabinets, drawers, and a surface area on top is the perfect area for holding dishes, serve ware, and to rest food on top of to give us extra room on the table.
The centerpiece of the room was adding in breakfast area lighting with our beaded chandelier — the perfect breakfast area decor! It feels grand in size, anchors the space, and adds the touch of whimsy and elegance in our breakfast area lighting fixture. One suggestion that I often give, when redesigning or renovating a room, consider adding one investment piece in. We brought in our table from our last house, but we splurged on a really beautiful chandelier to make this space feel extra special!
The large floor to ceiling windows in this space bring the outside in, and leave this room flooded with sunlight all day long. We considered breakfast area window treatments, but for now I love all of the sunlight! Few things mean more to me in the feel of a home, than for it to have beautiful natural light. This room has the best lighting!
I brought a fun carved sideboard table, perfect for added storage, additional lighting, and a pretty mirror. On the tabletop we layered in a runner, pretty placemats, florals and candles. This is a sweet spot for family dinners or a cozy casual Sunday breakfast.
Need a refresh on a budget? A light sanding of furniture and the addition of chalk paint in your color of choice can make a world of difference! Bring new life to vintage pieces, or furniture that you’ve had for a while and are craving a new look for.
Lighting on a dimmer switch and battery operated candles always do the trick for me! An area rug, fabric in curtains, artwork — touches to bring warmth and comfort!
Frame art from your children, bring in an old photograph of your parents together, or frame a handwritten recipe from your grandmother. Look for meaningful heirlooms that you can turn into art. You’re sure to feel at home each time that you pass by heartfelt memories as your breakfast area wall decor.
This is something that I’ve always done and that my girls love to take part in. We don’t just set our table for special holidays. We set our table to match the season and leave it decorated! For early summer I’ve added a pretty plaid runner, placemats, florals and plates.
I’m really happy with how our breakfast nook turned out, and I plan to layer in more over time! I hope that this breakfast area ideas with kitchens gives you inspiration for your own space!
XO,
