Girls Night In: Our Sweetest December Tradition at HomeOur girls night in has quietly become one of the most meaningful December traditions we share. It’s simple, cozy, and somehow the thing we all look forward to most. These are the nights that don’t need tickets or reservations. They happen right at our table, with music playing, hands busy, and laughter filling the room.
Every December, when the lights feel softer and the nights come earlier, I find myself craving the same thing year after year.
Not more plans.
Not more hustle.
Just home.
At the start of each December, we sit down together and make small bucket lists. Nothing fancy. Just ideas scribbled down between cocoa sips.
Crafts we want to try.
Recipes we only make this time of year.
Moments we don’t want to miss.
And every single year, the cozy nights at home are the ones we circle first.
Painted ornaments. Peppermint bark. Gingerbread houses that lean just a little too much. Christmas movies playing while we craft. These simple traditions shape our season more than anything else.
Setting the Scene for a Girls Night InBefore the crafting begins, we love turning our space into something that feels special. Not perfect—just joyful.
We start by hanging Christmas 5Pcs Flocking Stars around the room. They instantly make the space feel magical, especially when they’re hung low enough for little hands to touch.
Across the windows or mantle, we drape a Star Garland. It’s simple, but it adds that twinkly, whimsical feeling we love so much.
Paper decorations are always part of our girls night in. We mix in Christmas paper fan decorations and layer them with a Christmas Ball Garland in Retro Red. The colors instantly warm up the room and make everything feel festive without feeling overdone.
One of our favorite touches is the Hanging Four-Leaf Tissue Paper Garland. We hang it wherever feels fun—sometimes over the table, sometimes in a doorway—letting the space feel playful and lived-in.
To finish it off, we always add a few Large Paper Stars. They’re bold, soft, and feel like a nod to old-school Christmas magic.
Once the decorations are up, we dim the lights and add glow.
We use Flameless Taper Candles so we can enjoy the ambiance without worrying about little hands. That warm flicker changes the entire mood of the room and invites everyone to slow down.
Sometimes I’ll add a Big Pink Bow somewhere unexpected—on a chair, a cabinet, or even tied around a centerpiece. It’s a small detail, but it always makes the girls smile.
The table becomes the heart of the night.
We cover it with our Blush Plaid Ruffle Table Cloth, which instantly softens the space and sets the tone for lingering. Our chairs are layered with Square Ruffle Throw Pillow Covers, making everyone want to stay a little longer.
Craft supplies spread out. Cocoa mugs appear. Someone always sneaks a taste of chocolate meant for later.
It’s not tidy. And that’s the point.
Once we start crafting, the night moves at its own pace.
Someone paints ornaments. Someone else starts on peppermint bark. Christmas music plays softly in the background, and conversations overlap in the best way.
There’s laughter. There are messes. There are moments when everyone is talking at once.
Eventually, we shift from crafting to baking, from baking to cocoa, and from cocoa to curling up for a Christmas movie. Blankets come out. Pillows pile up. No one rushes to clean.
I don’t know what details they’ll remember years from now.
But I hope they remember how it felt.
The slow nights.
The laughter.
The music playing while we crafted.
The freedom to make a mess.
The feeling of being together.
Because these girls nights in are about more than decorations or recipes. They’re about choosing connection in a season that often feels busy.
Why Girls Night In Matters So MuchDecember can feel overwhelming. There’s pressure to do more and make everything perfect.
But I’ve learned that the magic isn’t found in doing more.
It’s found in staying.
Long after the decorations are packed away, I believe these girls night in December traditions will be the moments that stay with them. Sometimes, the sweetest holiday memories are made right at home.
