Summer is the perfect time to breathe new life into your space, and lately, I’ve been embracing a light and airy summer home refresh in our living room. Whether it’s swapping out heavy textures for breezy fabrics or adding cheerful scents and seasonal greens, these simple updates have helped create a space that feels fresh, cozy, and calm. Here are some of the favorite things I’m using to update our living room for the season.
There’s nothing like a burst of citrus to make a space feel clean and energized. I’ve been diffusing citrus essential oils like lemon and grapefruit from this Young Living essential oils collection and it instantly lifts the mood. It’s a natural way to freshen the air and set a summer tone without any synthetic scents.
Speaking of scent, I’m also obsessed with the Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser. It looks like a chic piece of art on my console table and fills the room with a cool mist of wellness. The wood and glass design fits so beautifully with my neutral decor, making it functional and stylish.
To soften the space and give it that summer feel, I added natural linen pillow shams. The breathable texture is perfect for warm weather and pairs beautifully with my neutral palette. I also brought out a cotton cable knit throw blanket that feels cozy but light—great for cool mornings with coffee.
I swapped out some darker winter plants for this faux pythos vine, and it’s been the easiest way to add a touch of life and movement to our shelves. It looks so real and trails so gracefully—zero upkeep, maximum charm!
Trays are my favorite styling tool, and this scalloped rattan tray adds such beautiful texture. I use it to hold a candle, diffuser, and a little vase of blooms for that effortless, curated summer feel.
Another easy win? Updating the artwork. I found this abstract wall art and love the modern, serene vibe it brings. The light tones feel perfect for summer and give the room an instant lift.
Nothing says summer like sunshine. I replaced our heavy curtains with light-filtering linen panels. They let the natural light in while still giving the room a soft, dreamy glow.
To keep it all fresh and safe, I use a glass spray bottle and a small glass spray bottle filled with natural cleaner (like Thieves!). It’s part of my daily reset and makes the whole space feel so good without harsh chemicals.
This little living room update has brought so much peace and joy into our home. It’s proof that you don’t need to do a full renovation—just a few thoughtful swaps can completely transform your space for the season.
