Christmas season has arrived, and with it my most favorite time of the year! Ever since we first laid eyes on our new home, even before the renovations, I pictured this home decked out for Christmas! This is the first year that we’ve been able to really decorate fully, and I am truly giddy about it! I am so excited to share our Christmas decor and some truly festive Christmas decorating ideas with you all!
In our family we view Christmas as an entire season, and as soon as the pumpkins are put away, we pull all of the holiday magic out and enjoy decorating for christmas early! I may or may not have started to get trees up before Halloween! I can’t help it, we truly love this time of year and I want to soak in every single moment of it.
When thinking of how to decorate our home for Christmas I wanted classic elements, a lot of whimsy, and as much magic as possible! Twinkling lights, sparkle, pretty neutral colors, mixed metals like these gold ornaments, soft and cozy warmth added throughout our home. There will be many layers to getting our house fully decorated, especially since I love adding Christmas magic into the kiddo’s rooms! When we were decorating for christmas 2021 we didn’t have our home completed yet, so this year is such a different experience!
In our front room, we added a super tall tree. This will be the centerpiece of our home this holiday season. It gives such a cozy glow at night, and is even more beautiful in person than photos can do justice. We added gorgeous ribbons, and lots of ornaments in a variety of tones and finishes. Each time I turn the corner it takes my breath away!
We’ve put our family tree up in the living room and will decorate it all together! I’ve started adding wreaths (love this flocked wreath!) to windows (you know I love a kitchen window setup!), and we’ve been decorating mantels as well. I want to make magical fireplace mantel setups, and really embrace whimsy throughout my decor.
Soaking in this season feels extra special when we are surrounded by twinkle lights and glittering decorations. Making this home that was once a far off dream, feel like the vision that I always had for it is something that I am forever grateful for.
Decorating for christmas without a tree would be challenging since it adds so much of the Christmas spirit. Even smaller tabletop trees can add such a special vibe into a space! A Christmas tree in your bedroom is really a magical experience. Think about adding more than your one living room tree, and spread magic through your home! Here’s a gorgeous flocked 10 ft tree!
I love shopping for ribbon outside of the holiday aisle. Go to your local craft store and check out what they have available. Velvet or satin ribbon in different colors that are found in your holiday decor adds such a pretty touch. These are a pretty gold ribbon set!
I can’t handle the maintenance of fresh garland everywhere, but I do like to add it to a few key areas! There are so many gorgeous and realistic faux garlands out there, add to a mantel, over a window, down a staircase railing — so beautiful! This one is super pretty faux pine garland!
I love to mix old with the new. Vintage pieces, family ornaments, new pieces that fit my aesthetic, and also pieces that have longevity that I can pass down to my kiddos!
As you decorate for the holidays know that putting your personal style and spin on things is most important, even when decorating for christmas on a budget! Enjoy the process and embrace the magic of it all!
We still plan to do some decorating for christmas outdoors, but with the pool in full swing, we are mostly focusing inside rather than decorating for christmas outside!
XO,
Casey Wiegand
