Halloween is such a fun time of year to host a whimsical get together, or a cozy festive movie night! I love celebrating the season and getting into the spirit. We’ve been really enjoying decorating our home for fall, and I’ve been looking forward to hosting friends and family in our space. If you’re looking for halloween hosting ideas, look no further.
I have three festive and cute recipes that you must try when hosting at Halloween, and some of my favorite items for the perfect party setup. I love these felt ghost garland to give your halloween party a spooky cute vibe! This balloon set or these holographic ghost balloons are a favorite of ours when hosting at Halloween!

+ 12 flour, corn or spinach tortillas +
+ spray oil +
+ salt to taste +
+ Preheat oven to 400 degrees. +
+ Spray both sides of tortillas with your choice of cooking oil. Cut tortillas with cookie cutters into the desired shape or use kitchen shears, pizza cutter or chef’s knife. Spread into a single layer on a large cookie sheet (use more sheets if needed to fit single layers). +
+ Sprinkle with salt. +
+ Bake for 4 minutes. Remove pan and shake a bit to move chips around (or use a spatula) and return to oven for 2-3 more minutes, being careful not to burn them. +
+ Remove from oven and cool (they will continue to crisp more as they cool). Repeat with any additional cookie sheets, as needed. Add more salt if desired and serve immediately. +
*** Side Notes ***
(*Homemade baked chips don’t last as long as commercial, so it’s best to bake only what you will eat in a day or two or three. Store uneaten chips in an airtight container.)
+ Serve them up on these trick or treat pink plates or in this pumpkin serving bowl with lid +

+ 2 small black olives +
+ 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas or 1 ½ cups (250 grams) cooked chickpeas +
+ 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice, 1 large lemon +
+ 1/4 cup (60 ml) well-stirred tahini +
+ 1 small garlic clove, minced +
+ 2 tablespoons (30 ml) extra-virgin olive oil +
+ 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin +
+ Salt to taste +
+ 2 to 3 tablespoons (30 to 45 ml) water +
+ 1 TBSP Sour cream mixed w/1/4 tsp water +
+ Food coloring as desired +
+ Thinly slice one black olive then slice those into halves for spider legs. Set aside. +
+ Add the olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, and a 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the whipped tahini and lemon juice. +
+ Process for 30 seconds, scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl then process another 30 seconds or until well blended. +
+ Open, drain, and rinse the chickpeas. Add half of the chickpeas to the food processor and process for 1 minute. Scrape sides and bottom of the bowl, then add remaining chickpeas and process until thick and quite smooth. +
+ Most likely the hummus will be too thick or still have tiny bits of chickpea. To fix this, with the food processor turned on, slowly add 2 to 3 tablespoons of water until you reach the perfect consistency. +
+ Add food coloring and mix to desired color to contrast white spider web. +
+ Taste for salt and adjust as needed. +
+ Put mixed sour cream into the corner of a ziploc bag. Twist closed at the top and hold. Snip the corner tip to release sour cream. Gently squeeze sour cream into spider web shape on top of hummus. +
+ Place one black olive and insert legs on each side of the olive, onto the spider web. +
+ Cover with plastic wrap and enjoy within 5 days. +

There are a variety of ways you can rock this spooky season pizza.
+ Use a readymade pizza, or make your own! +
+ Buy a readymade pizza shell. Pour on the pizza sauce, sprinkle light amount of cheeses on top, and whatever your favorites are. Leave room for your ghosts or bats or pumpkins. +
+ While your pizza is cooking, take shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese and cut with Halloween cookie cutters. Make eyes and mouth with a black food marker. +
+ After the pizza comes out of the oven, place the shapes on top. (If you do it before you cook it, the shapes will melt a lot and could disfigure.) This way it melts onto the top and retains its shape. +
+ Serve it up on this wood serving / pizza board! +
I hope that you enjoy these festive treats and soak in all of the fun of October and Halloween!
XO,
Casey Wiegand
