We’ve been enjoying all of the fall festivities, it’s hard to believe that October is almost here! I love this time of year, the way the air starts to cool, the coziness that we start to embrace, days growing shorter, school in full session, anticipation for all of the holidays to come! There’s something extra magic about autumn.
We have lots of traditions that we try to come back to year after year. I think that these memories imprint themselves onto our kiddos hearts, and I see their anticipation each year. I love to watch holidays through their eyes. Their excitement is contagious, and it brings me right back to a time when I too was a kid on Halloween!
One of our favorite traditions is to head to the pumpkin patch near us. Hayrides, apple cider, games, family fun, the beautiful pumpkin patch aesthetic — hopefully on a more cool weather day, though you never know in Dallas!
I try to get pumpkin patch family photos every year, as they are such special memories to look back on. What won’t us mamas do to make each moment like stand still? I pick outfits for our pumpkin patch photoshoot for each kid and pumpkin patch outfit women for me. Sometimes we go casual, and other years I love to match with my girls! Either way, I love to have pumpkin patch pictures to look back on, and to see how much each kid has grown year after year!
We make sure that each kiddo picks their favorite pumpkin, and we load up our car to bring them home!
We usually do a pumpkin carving day together. I like to make it a family fun party, with treats, snacks, Halloween PJs spooky music and more! It’s really fun to see how much our big kids still embrace this time together, and I love how Adelaide is getting older now and can really participate in the fun!
A plastic table cloth is a must when carving, and we give the harder carving job to Chris, and then let the kiddos use kid safe tools to make their own designs.
