I’ve been counting down the minutes to decorate for fall! Last year, we were under renovation inside of our home, and though I put a few decorations out for a fall house tour 2021, but I was truly dreaming of this year, and all that we could do to make our house cozy for this season!
For as long as I can remember I’ve been a lover of holidays, of the cozy times of year when the temps cool a bit. It feels like there is magic in the air. Something about this season brings me back to childhood and makes me extra grateful and filled with joy to be a mother. My own home now to decorate and to make special for my children — such a joy!
I first started by bringing out all of our fall decor, and I also added some new items to the bunch! I still have more to share, but these are my first two completed spaces that I couldn’t wait to show!
Something that I LOVE about our home are all of the fireplaces. I adore decorating mantles and making them feel extra special with each season. I started with our sitting room mantle, and added cream and gray faux pumpkins, greenery and branches. Keeping things simple and classic for this space, and I plan to add some spooky fun to other rooms!
The real star of the show is our staircase. Honestly, when we first walked into our home, the staircase took my breath away. I imagined future proms and maybe even wedding photos on this staircase. It’s such a focal point to our home.
I couldn’t help but think of all of the holiday decorations that we could someday add to this space! We went big this year! All different sizes of heirloom pumpkins and gourds. I love the natural vibe, and the pops of autumnal color. We added in greenery as well, and beautiful candlesticks. From our fall home tour 2020 to now, we’ve moved to a totally new home and have so much to share!
On the other side of the stairs I added cute jack-o-lantern luminaries. It’s extra magical at nighttime!
I went with softer colors like cream and pale green, with pops of orange. Things look most cohesive when you carry tones and a vibe throughout your home. I have a bit more fun in kid spaces, but I keep things fairly neutral and on theme throughout the rest of the house.
Take a look outside, are there branches you can trim? Or head to your favorite florist/ store that carries eucalyptus and ornamental branches. Florals are also a great way to carry the color story through your home!
Candlelight, twinkle lights, flickering diffusers, dim lamp lighting — bring on all of the mood lighting!
You can add more Halloween theme items in October, and welcome early autumn in now. You may want to transition to a harvest theme in November, whatever works best for your family and home!
