Backyard Landscaping Phase One, The Plans!

I’ve loved sharing peeks into our renovation process here on the blog! We’ve been sharing lots of details of our interior home renovation for over a year now, but not much from our exterior. That’s all about to change, as we are making lots of big strides toward a major makeover outside and have backyard landscaping designs layout all planned!

Everything is still in the works, lots is torn up — but we have plans! The vision of what this space will become is beyond exciting for our family. We love spending time outdoors, and especially have the best time outside in our pool! This new pool and backyard space was designed with our family in mind! How we use the space, and what we enjoy doing most, was all at the forefront during the design process.

Some of the backyard landscaping changes that we are making

+ “Relocating” our pool +

We will fill our current pool, and build a new one in a location that makes more sense for us. We want the pool to be right off of the living room and kitchen area. We put in amazing sliding doors that will open out to the patio, and we love the idea of indoor outdoor living including backyard landscaping with pool! We’ve looked into lots of backyard landscaping designs to help for inspiration. I think that these will be perfect for around the pool blue patio umbrella and sling back chair.

+ Repairing our tennis court! +

I grew up playing tennis, and I want my kiddos to learn and to enjoy playing together. The current tennis court needed quite a bit of patching up, so we are excited to repair it to have it in playing condition! My kiddos also like taking their one wheels, bikes and scooters out there! We are adding a basketball net, which I think will be another fun outdoor activity for the kids, and something that Chris will enjoy. Backyard landscaping along fence will be important to making our tennis court flow with the rest of the backyard design.

+ Outdoor fire pit +

This is something we are super excited for as well! Backyard landscaping ideas with fire pits have been fun to research while making these choices. We love making s’mores, and hanging out by a good fire — especially in fall and winter with the Texas weather still being nice enough to enjoy outdoor time.

When considering furniture for near the fire pit, outdoor kitchen, pool, and patio areas these are a few that I am LOVING outdoor wicker couch, outdoor wicker ottoman, white woven chair!

I can’t wait for this to be completed. There are so many times where just grilling out is the best way for us to make dinner for the family. Keeps the indoor kitchen cool and less cluttered and allows us to really enjoy our time by the pool. I will show more progress here once this is complete!

+ We eventually want to redo the patios and porches +

I will share more here once those are complete, it will just take some time and everything is happening in phases. I’m sure as we add to the porches I’ll be dreaming up accessories. These pillows from Serena and Lily are favorites: blue and white accent pillow
and blue and white stripe pillow.

There will be more steps along the way, but having the backyard landscaping plans complete and work being started has us all so excited to see the finished projects and to enjoy them as a family for years to come!
