We recently traveled to Maui, and while there we experiences so many unforgettable moments of beauty! At the top of our list, was our journey on Road to Hana. If you have the opportunity to experience this, don’t miss it! I thought it would be fun to share my Road to Hana packing list!
Road to Hana is known as one of the world’s most scenic drives, and it absolutely lives up to the name! It’s a great sightseeing activity if you’re looking to spend a day exploring. There are beaches, waterfalls, bamboo forests, stunning views, lava rock formations and more!
If you’re planning out your stops, I recommend what we did — we followed along with the GyPSy guide and pulled stops from Pride of Maui.
Depending on what you see, and how you plan your itinerary, The Road to Hana can be a LONG road trip! Upwards of 11 or 12 hours if you’re fitting a lot in! Because of this, I recommend packing smart for your trip!
Think appropriate shoes for a wet climate, a rain jacket with hood, or even an umbrella — it’s not uncommon for there to be showers or for the ground to be wet.
What is a road trip without snacks anyway 😉 but for real, because of the length and the added activities like hiking and longer walks, you will want some healthy snacks that give you energy and LOTS of water to stay hydrated! This water bottle is one of my faves!
There are lots of opportunities to swim. Bring your suits and a way to dry off! Don’t forget your swimsuit wet/dry bag!
Clothes, shoes, and hats for hiking! Be prepared to step right into some of the most beautiful hiking opportunities you’ve ever seen!
Make sure to pack an external charger and one for the car. It’s a long day and you’ll be taking lots of pictures!
Be prepared, you’re going to need both!
You’ll want to be comfortable on your drive, and you’ll want something other than just hiking boots when you get to the beach! I am loving these sandals right now!
You’ll go from areas with lots of tree cover, to open sunny spots. Be sure to pack sunglasses and sun hats so that you are covered! Don’t forget these when you pack for the Road to Hana.
I was happy to have options, you may get wet or dirty along the way, and a clean set of clothes for the drive back was much appreciated.
You may pack all of this in a bigger bag for the car, but bring a backpack along so that on hikes you can pack the necessities and have them on you, in an easy to carry way!
Being prepared for this drive will make exploring all the more enjoyable! I hope that you find this list of What To Pack For The Road To Hana helpful. We had such a wonderful trip, and this was truly a highlight for us!
