Ainsleigh’s Room Makeover

My sweet oldest daughter, Ainsleigh has such a special room in our home. I am forever pouring myself into making our kiddos’ spaces a reflection of them — a cozy place to create memories and to express themselves. Ainsleigh has been so happy with her room makeover bedroom redo!

Ainsleigh’s room really feels like her special spirit, which was truly my goal in designing this space. I love that it still feels girly, but yet is a room that she can grow into, as she’ll be a teenager before we know it! I think the tones of blue are something that make Ainsleigh really love her room, and it’s one of her favorite parts of her space.

Her bed is SO cozy, with layered in textured linens, and pretty throw pillows in blue and white, and aqua. Her headboard has a classic shape that fits well with the design style throughout our home. This was important to us when gathering together our room makeover list.

Room Makeover Ideas Aesthetic

Ainsleigh has two bedside tables with white lamps. The more lamps, lighting with dimmers, twinkle lights and lighting overall the better! Especially in a bedroom, we find this so cozy! I am huge on our kiddos bedtime routines, and when it’s time to wind down for bedtime and reading time, having lamps net to the bed within reach is really functional for them.

Ainsleigh also has a desk space in her room. This is important as she grows, and homework for school becomes more and more of a priority. She has a whiteboard, bulletin board and calendar, drawers to hold her school supplies, or anything she may want to keep in her room for projects, a task lamp and a super cute pink desk chair on wheels.

Cozy Room Makeover Before and After

I am in love with her blue vintage feel rug. It softens the space and provides a hangout area, and just cozies the room up in general!

Ainsleigh’s blue wallpaper is from my collection with Curated Walls. I really feel like it suits her and brings this space together! Adding a large scale floral print wallpaper to a girls room is such a beautiful way to add whimsy and a special design element. Shop wallpaper here.

Ainsleigh has an Anthropologie carved dresser that I think is such a gorgeous piece, her diffuser and the most gorgeous lamp are set on her dresser as well as a wooden mirror and florals.

Room Makeover Ideas for Incorporating Color

We added blue and white roman shades to her room, adding fabric like this is a great way to add softness and function to a space. She has a sweet inch perched in front of her window — the most lovely spot to daydream!

We added vintage art pieces as well as custom art created by me, we hope to continue to add to her art collection. Florals are our go to right now in this space, and I think they add a fun pop of color into her room.

Bringing in Personality & Interests

A white bookcase is where Ainsleigh keeps many of her special interests and favorite collections. She has a guitar and space for music there as well. Plenty of baskets for storage, and a floor lamp complete this corner of her room.

Many of these elements can be included for room makeover bedroom small spaces or room makeover on a budget — thrifting, vintage finds, homemade art, repurposing what you already have on hand, chalk paint for furniture etc. all can make a huge impact on a budget!

Collaborating with Ainsleigh on her room was such a fun part of our remodel for me. My girl is growing and coming into her own personal style, and I love to encourage this every chance that I have!
