What a fun day with my eldest and youngest at First Monday Canton Texas! These are the days we dreamed of when we were craving more family time for Aiden! It’s so sweet to have this special time together.
So what is First Monday Canton, you ask!? It’s the world’s largest flea market, held in Canton, Texas — about an hour outside of Dallas. Its name comes from the history of when this gathering was held, but it actually now takes place the Thursday – Sunday leading into the first Monday of the month. It is also known as Trade Days Canton.
There is so much to explore here, there are lots of great details on their website, but I will recap some of the highlights here!
Click over to visit First Monday Canton online!
I recommend visiting their website to print out a map and for instructions for parking!
Despite the name, they are not actually open on Monday, so make sure to plan for this!
There are limited places to stay and they book up quickly during First Monday weekends.
If you know Texas weather, it can change drastically through the corse of a day. Stay cool and hydrated during spring and summer months and don’t forget sunscreen, as it gets quite hot here!
You’ll be able to cover lots more ground if you have a ride for small children.
This will help you to carry the treasures along with you that you find!
There are ATMs on site, but I recommend having cash on you, as many of the vendors are cash only.
From thrifted items, antiques, handmade goods, art, items for your home, and so much more! You can really get lost here exploring all that they have to offer!
I am a lover of thrifting, vintage, and antiques, so I had a ton of fun exploring and looking for items for our new home. There’s nothing quite like collected vintage pieces to make your house feel like a cozy home.
Aiden and Adelaide had an awesome day, we had lunch, fun treats, browsed the vendors, and even visited the playground. First Monday Canton really feels like quintessential Texas! So many kind people, a real neighborly vibe, lots of original art and home decor that feels uniquely southern.
We love any chance that we have to explore Texas, and to spend quality time together! Tell me, have you ever been!? I highly recommend adding First Monday Canton to your Texas bucket list!
XO,
