Hosting An Outdoor Dinner Party

With Spring’s arrival, comes lots of time spent in our backyard gathering with friends and family, hosting dinners, parties, and get togethers! Our backyard space isn’t fully complete, but that didn’t stop me from having friends over for an outdoor dinner party!

It was a lovely evening, complete with cafe lights hung by Chris, some of our favorite cookout foods, lots of laughter and great conversation. My heart feels so full to see our new home filled with friends and loved ones. This is truly what I had in mind when we first bought our home and started our renovation.

We’ve also been enjoying backyard dinners as a family, too! Roasting s’mores in the backyard, is there anything better? We are anticipating and awaiting summertime and many more nights like this!

A few tips for hosting an outdoor dinner party ideas:

Lighting

We opted to add outdoor cafe lights over our outdoor dining table. I had this idea the night before my friends were coming over, and Chris was such a good sport to hang them. It really made all of the difference in our backyard, and added a little magic in a space that we are still working on completing. The twinkling lights really added to the outdoor dinner party aesthetic!

Florals

I can never get enough of fresh flowers — add them anywhere and you instantly elevate a space. As we complete our backyard, I knew that adding fresh flowers into the space would bring life and color for outdoor dinner party decor!

Place Settings

We went with paper products with a festive touch for outdoor dinner party table settings. I love this set, it’s available in The Casey Box subscription! These were perfect for adding a little color, but allowing for easy peasy cleanup! Table decor can be simple, and still have personality!

Simple Comfort Food

Who doesn’t love backyard BBQ food? In Texas, cookouts are a way of life, and we stuck to some of our family’s favorites for outdoor dinner party food. I think when you are hosting out of town guests in your home, you should always consider sharing some of your local favorites, it adds room for conversation and to give others a peek into your traditions.

Always and forever in love with creating cozy spaces and gatherings! Cozy drinks, yummy food, great playlists, calming lighting, a signature scent pumping from all of our diffusers, an outfit that’s comfortable, corners of our home set up for conversation, anything that you can add to set the tone for a welcoming gathering never goes unnoticed!
