Sweet Aiden, my first born, our only son, and truly the purest soul in human form! I love this kid dearly, and he has such a special place in my heart! Aiden is the kind of kid that is always kind and grateful, so making a cool boys room for him, is important to me as his mama! Aiden will be a teenager this year (cue the tears!), so I wanted to make sure that his room in our new house felt a little bit more grown up/ transitional — so that it will grow with him into this next stage!
Aiden’s favorite part about his room actually happens to be just outside of his door, in the hallway that leads into his room. You can see it in the arched entryway — it’s his reptile room! He has such a passion for animals, reptiles especially, and he has an entire room made specially for him with shelving for his reptile tanks, lighting, a sink, and storage for their needs. He was thrilled by this!
His other passions include Godzilla, sports — especially football, making his own short stop motion films (taking after his dad!). He’s truly in that sweet spot between boyhood and young manhood — and it’s such a joy to see his interests develop over time. Godzilla has been a forever interest of his, so we were sure to incorporate Godzilla pieces all throughout his room. We also included led lights and dinosaur figures!
It’s so important when creating a space for our kiddos, even in shared spaces, to allow their personalities and interests to take center stage. You can find cool boys room ideas small spaces and cool girls room ideas too! I want nothing more than for my children to feel comfortable, at home, seen and celebrated in the places that they lay their heads at night.
A few search ideas for Pinterest that I did for inspo were cool boys room paint ideas, cool boys room wallpaper, cool boys room shelves, cool boys room bedding, and cool boys room ideas awesome.
I love that he took on the lofted bed, it fit well in my search for cool boys room bed frames and it gives him more space underneath. He has a desk space, a dresser, and an antique cabinet for more of his treasures.
I went with a classic color palette, blues, reds, cream, natural wood. The rug is the statement piece that ties all of the decor together. I think the perfect finishing touch were his roman shades — they add just the right amount of warmth into his space!
I love adding antique and vintage pieces to each of my kiddos rooms. Whether you restore them, paint them, or leave them as is — antiques have a story to tell. Theres a different kind of collected feeling to a home that is filled with antiques! Check Facebook marketplace, Goodwill, flea markets, or your local antique or consignment shop, you never know what you might find!
Putting this room together for Aiden was such a joy, and I’m so happy to see our son enjoying his time in a space to call his own! I can not wait to see what some of you do with your boys rooms!
XO,
