I absolutely love decorating for the holidays, and one of my favorite traditions is to add Christmas into my little girls room. I think that there’s something so magical and whimsical about a twinkling tree in each of their rooms!
Decorating my youngest daughter Adelaide’s bedroom for Christmas this year was especially fun for me! Her room is one of our most complete in our new house, and adding in holiday decorations really took things to next level cozy!
We added sparkly wreaths, a simple garland, and a special Christmas tree with whimsical decorations, ribbon, and a crocheted tree skirt. The perfect little girls bedroom for Christmastime! Adelaide absolutely loves it, and I have the sweetest memories imprinted in my memory of her running around her little tree and wrapping the ribbon around it.
It’s especially dreamy in the evening at bedtime, reading together all cozy in her big girl room, by the light of the Christmas tree!
Light blue may be considered a non traditional Christmas decoration color, but I absolutely love the way that the ribbon on her tree ties in with the colors from her wallpaper and window treatments!
If you tend to go more traditional or natural with the decorations in your home, don’t be afraid to change things up in your kids’ bedrooms! You can add color, sparkles, playful ornaments, woodland animals, all things Christmas through the eyes of a child!
Because a bedroom is a smaller space, you get more of an impact with just a few decorations! I sometimes feel like in a great room or larger open space, you need a lot of decorations and a larger tree to make a statement. In a bedroom I hang garland over the windows. Then I add in a tree (go as small or large as you’d like). Last I like to add a wreath and some twinkle lights. Once finished you’ve got a magical Christmasy wonderland!
Do they have a favorite part of this season that they want to incorporate? Can you give them ornaments to add to their special tree? These memories made will forever be imprinted on their hearts!
We sometimes tend to rotate out our main decorations as styles change or we find something new that we love. Don’t get rid of those, these can be the perfect decorations to layer into your children’s rooms. Add some fresh ribbon, or fluff and flock an older faux garland and it’s a great way to give new life to your older decorations!
Even though our home is still being renovated, we’ve been adding Christmas magic to as many spaces as we can. I think having Christmas in our children’s bedrooms is a lovely way to add comfort and a retreat for them.
Decorating our kiddos’ rooms for Christmas is a tradition that we plan to carry on for years to come!
XO,
Casey Wiegand
