Folding Glass Doors

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that we are in the process of renovating our new home!   Each day it feels like things come together more and I am so excited to show you our folding glass doors makeover! We are so grateful for this next chapter!

I’m taking you along for each step of this journey, from house-hunting, to finding our home, to demo, big plans, renovations, and beyond. You’ve been such a part of our family’s story, and I am thankful for the chance to connect with you all in this next chapter for us. It will be hard to say goodbye to our home that we love so much, but we have so much waiting for us in our new home, and memories to be made!

Adding Folding Glass Doors

The renovation on our new home is well underway. We have demoed lots of tile, removed a bathroom downstairs, relocated our kitchen.  This area opens up to our back porch, and eventually we would love to relocate our pool to be right at the foot of the patio off of our living room. Which is why adding folding glass doors to the patio make such an impact!

Let Light In

We had a vision in mind.  To let light in and make the back patio accessible with folding glass doors  that flow to the exterior. I love the idea of seamless indoor-outdoor living. Having folding doors that can completely open is the perfect way to make our living room and patio become one. We love to spend our time out by the pool, and I have such a heart for hosting family and friends. This space is perfect for BBQs and family gatherings. I can see it in my mind already!

Folding Glass Doors Makeover Reveal

To install our folding glass doors, we had to demo the back wall to open things up. Professional installers were a must for this job. They put supports in the opening, added the tracks in, and then added the doors. To finish the space some drywall was done surrounding the folding glass door area. The doors fold smoothly and stack together, making the opening nice and large. There is now plenty of space to flow between the living room and the patio. There was a whole other piece to adding new support to this room too- it required steal beams in the room to support the new area!

I’ve been dying to show you this reveal and to share pictures! It’s amazing what a difference something like adding folding glass doors can do. What I appreciate most about this part of the renovation is how much light these doors let in.  They truly expand the living room. I looked for lots of inspiration for folding doors and I think this style fits perfectly in this space.
