We are really making progress with our new home renovation, and I am beyond excited to see all of the pieces come together! Over the past few weeks, so many things have taken shape. Paint and new light fixtures have made a huge difference, and are really making our house feel more like home.
This process has taken many twists and turns, and the renovation as a whole has taken a bit longer than we anticipated. As so many of us know, there are lots of delays right now in the home construction world — from appliances to different types of trim, flooring, countertops, hardware etc. many things are taking more time right now.
We’ve grown our patience and leaned into gratitude a whole lot throughout our renovation. Just knowing that there is already SO much to love about our home, and that we’ve been able to take our time to plan out and decorate the areas that are ready, has been such an exciting piece of this. Little by little, room by room, layer by layer we are making this home our own.
Some updates since I’ve last shared photos have been several new areas and cabinetry getting painted (much of our home is SW Snowbound, for those that are always curious about our favorite white paint!) and we’ve also had quite a bit of lighting come in!
I really feel like lighting can make SUCH a huge difference in a home. I’m excited to share with you our new light fixtures before and after. If you have some room in your budget, I think a great area to invest in is lighting, you can really transform a space by changing out sconces, pendants, chandeliers, adding lamps, dimmer switches, anything to cozy up a space and to add those finishing touches.
Spend some time in each room, and use the notes section of your phone or a pen and paper to jot down which areas of that space could most use lighting. Do you need a chandelier or new light fixtures dining room over a table, a corner floor lamp for new light fixtures living room in a reading area, some sconces on the wall to bring life and extra dimension to a space?
Is there a way to have not only overhead lighting, but wall sconces, or lamps in each space? As much as you can add lighting on different levels, the more interesting and put together a space will feel. new light fixtures bathroom can make a huge difference too, surrounding a mirror or a pretty chandelier over a free standing bath tub.
This is important! Often people go too small in scale. If you have the room for a larger chandelier over your table, go for it! Pendants over a kitchen island can sometimes feel tiny and get lost, if you can go for something more grand, do it!
This was really fun for me! You’ll see it in our floral shaped sconces, and in some of our more whimsical light fixtures, especially our new light fixtures kitchen. I try to stay true to the overall feel of our home. I really feel like lighting is a beautiful way to add your style into each space.
I’m looking forward to continuing to share our home during every step of our renovation process. All of your encouragement and kind words mean the world to us!
