I don’t consider myself a coffee connoisseur by any means, but after I whipped up this little treat, I feel like adding ‘home barrista’ to my list of sweet skills. And you will, too, after you’ve tried it, because I promise you it basically tastes just like a whipped chocolate milk! So yummy!!
In order to whip up your own cup of Cloud Coffee heaven, you’ll need:
+ two tablespoons of instant coffee
+ two tablespoons of sugar
+ two tablespoons of hot water
+ half a cup of milk
I also added a dash of vanilla and a sprinkle of cinnamon, but both those are both optional. And you can easily double this recipe to make enough for two!
To begin, combine your instant coffee, sugar and hot water into your stand mixer (or use a bowl and handheld mixer). Slowly work your mixing speed up to high and leave it there for a good 8-10 minutes. This is when I also added a dash of vanilla!
While your coffee and sugar are coming together in your mixer, pour your cold milk into a pretty glass or mug. I used a stemless wine glass, but a mason jar would also work great. Something you can see through is key because watching your coffee whip blend together with the milk is part of the enjoyment of this treat!
Check on your coffee and sugar mixture after about 10 minutes to see if it’s all whipped together. You are looking for the color to have lightened and stiff peaks will be easily formed.
Need I say more.. you’ll know it’s ready when you see it!
This is a great time to steal a taste or lick the bowl, if you can’t resist! Either way, grab your glass of cold milk and a small spatula or spoon.
Carefully scoop all of your whipped coffee into your glass of milk. It should gently float on top of the milk.
Using a spoon or straw, slowly stir the whipped coffee into the milk, marrying them together so you see swirls of brown and white bubbly goodness. I finished my cloud coffee off with a dash of cinnamon on top. Extra delicious and the perfect cozy treat during the summer!
