Gingerbread Houses with Kids

Creating fun memories as a family is one of the best parts of the Christmas season. Making gingerbread houses is such a magical, creative time – I love watching their imaginations come to life, and the look of pride on their faces as they display their creations!

We pick out a variety of candy, all colors and shapes. We get the perfect icing, and then I let me kids fill the bowls. Handing off little jobs as they get older is so much fun to watch – the way they take charge, and work together as a little team. We turn on our favorite Christmas music, the twinkly lights glimmering in the background, the scents of the season lingering in the air.

I think sometimes we miss out on so many fun and creative memories because we worry about the messiness of it all – I always grab a disposable tablecloth when I’m getting supplies so that I can roll it all up when we’re finished and throw it away without a worry!

Allowing my kids the space to create, the magic of the season, and a little bit of sweetness thrown in – it’s what dreams are made of.
