so many tears…

I have no words for what just occurred in my household. I truly won’t be able to describe the 10 minutes of chaos. So Aiden was asleep in his swing and I decided since my two sweet dogs had been inside all day I would take them into the backyard for a few minutes. I have a video monitor so I wasn’t worried about leaving him inside for just a minute….or so I thought…

Well my big dog Macy LOVES water….swimming pools, ponds, lakes…she loves it all. Chris and I have a small plastic pool in the backyard for her (we are in the process of getting one of those big above ground pools but that is a whole other story). Anyways, within two seconds of being outside Macy lays down in her pool filled with dirty water because I hadn’t had time in that one minute to put fresh water in it. As I am trying to clean off Macy and refilling the pool my little dog, Ellie, proceeded to roll in fresh dog #2. Yuck, right? Now, my big dog can stay in the backyard but my little one cannot because she can fit under the fence. In the process of trying to figure out how to get inside our home she always winds up under the fence and running to our neighbors. Well, of course I hear on the monitor Aiden starting to cry. You have to understand that he has never cried for more than 2 minutes in his life. I know, I know this will not always be the case….all you “cry it out” believers are probably laughing at me but I panicked. I cant leave Ellie outside but I cant bring her in until she has a full bath or she will go running everywhere and will wind up in our bed covered in dog yuck! And I have no time because he is full out crying!!! I run inside and grab him and put him in his car seat so that he can atleast be near me as I wash Ellie. Well, he has never ever screamed and cried like this before, and I have never ever given Ellie a bath like I did today. Before Aiden came into the world Ellie was my little baby so she is used to sweet, gentle baths. Ellie is crying (she does this crazy scream that sounds like a child), Aiden is crying and then I realize that my big dog Macy is now throwing up on our red chair in the living room! Oh my heavens! In one moment I realized what people feel like with multiple children! In reality he probably only cried for 5 minutes but it felt like an eternity! It was so sad! Ive literally been holding him since all of this happened!

On a better note, our 8:00 bedtime schedule is working! Last night he slept from 2am to 7am! We are so proud of our big boy!!!!
