Butterfly Pancakes: Breakfast for Kids

Saturday morning pancakes are one of our most beloved family traditions.

Roaming around the kitchen in our pajamas, sipping something warm and cozy, the kids pulling up to the counter to help create something special.

These butterfly pancakes were so fun to create together! We each chose our own little toppings to make something unique and delicious – whether it was fresh berries, or rainbow sprinkles, and of course – a chocolate drizzle.

You can make traditional round pancakes and and make your own shapes with chocolate sauce, or get molds to make special shapes. Bring the kids in, and let your creativity take the lead!

Need an easy pancake recipe? Here’s a great one!

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

a pinch of salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs, lightly beaten

2 cups milk

2 tablespoons melted butter

Heat your griddle or pan on medium. Mix all of your dry ingredients together in a big bowl. In a smaller bowl, combine the rest of your ingredients. Then gently combine wet and dry ingredients – don’t over mix! A few lumps are ok.

Add a little butter to your griddle and once melted, add 1/2 cup of batter for each pancake. Flip each one once bubbles start to form. Cook for another little bit until the pancake is cooked through. Now you’re ready to get to decorating!

Enjoy!
