Believe it or not, Summer is right around the corner! I love having ideas ready for the months to come so that not only do we have something fun to look forward to, but we have ways to fill up our downtime making special memories! That doesn’t have to mean going all out on crazy adventures – there is so much fun to be had right in our own hometown!
1. Have a backyard campout!
My kids adore creating adventures in our own backyard. Camping out under the twinkly lights, roasting marshmallows, reading stories with a flashlight… and having your own bathroom just steps away?! Perfection. Whether you have a fire pit, a grill, or a quick trip inside for a stovetop marshmallow roast, you can make it so fun with extra special recipes. String some twinkly lights between two trees to create some magic. Give everyone a little flashlight and have a little scavenger hunt as the sun goes down. Creating magical memories can happen just outside your backdoor and your kiddos will never forget it!
2. Not much for camping outdoors? You can still have the most amazing time with fireside silly stories and treats! A warm fire in the fire pit if you have it, or just sit around on your coziest blanket. Take turns telling silly stories and sharing your favorite treats! Want to dress up a batch of s’mores? Replace plain chocolate with a salted caramel truffle or peanut butter cup and listen to the ooh’s and ahhh’s!
3. Want to go out on the town and explore your city? Have everyone write down fun ideas, places to go, things to eat, on individual pieces of paper and put the ideas in a big bowl. Draw a few ideas out and head out the door for a grand adventure right where you live!
