Our new backyard pool is for sure the highlight of our summer, something we have SO been looking forward to. It’s amazing how a simple body of water can transform any summer day into an adventure. The kids are going to have a blast, and honestly, I enjoy it just as much as they do. We’ll be setting up comfy lounge chairs, colorful beach towels, and even fun pool floats to create a little slice of paradise right in our backyard.
We will also be adding in all of the refreshing beverages to stay hydrated and cool all summer long!
One of the coolest discoveries we’ve made this summer is using fun popsicle molds and ice molds to create flavored ice cubes for water. It’s a simple way to jazz up our beverages, making them not only refreshing but also visually appealing. The kids are thrilled with the idea of creating their own unique combinations, and it’s an activity that keeps them engaged and excited.
Here are a few homemade and healthy popsicle recipes that have been a hit in our household:
Blend together a mix of fresh berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries with a splash of coconut water. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze until solid. These fruity popsicles are bursting with flavor and loaded with antioxidants.
Combine Greek yogurt, honey, and a handful of diced mangoes. Blend until smooth, pour into molds, and freeze. These creamy treats are a great source of protein and probiotics.
Mix pineapple juice, coconut milk, and a squeeze of lime. Add a small piece of pineapple or a maraschino cherry to each mold before freezing. These tropical popsicles are like a mini vacation for your taste buds.
In addition to popsicles, we’ve also been having fun with different fruit ice cubes for water.
Squeeze fresh lemon, lime, or orange juice into ice molds and freeze. Drop a few citrus ice cubes into your glass of sparkling water for a zesty twist.
Puree your favorite combination of berries, strain the mixture, and pour it into ice molds. These vibrant fruit ice cubes will infuse your lemonade with bursts of berry, they also turn out to be such a pretty color!
Crush fresh mint leaves, mix them with water, and freeze in ice molds. Add these refreshing ice cubes to your iced tea for a revitalizing summer drink. You can also squeeze some lemon in!
Let your kiddos run wild with their creativity and come up with their own ice combinations or popsicle flavors. They can mix and match different fruits, add a touch of honey or agave for sweetness, or experiment with herbs like basil or lavender for a unique twist. The possibilities are endless, and the joy of watching their imagination unfold is priceless.
