How To Style A Fall Mantle

I’m in full fall home decor swing over here, and loving making our home feel extra cozy and festive! There’s magic in this season, and we are soaking it all in and relishing in all of the beauty of autumn.

One of the things that I love most about our home is that we have several fireplace mantles. I get such joy out of decorating our fireplaces for each season. I love making our mantles centerpieces of each room, and really making them feel special. It’s fun to work on how to style a mantle for fall.

For our formal sitting room/ music room area we kept things simple and organic feeling. Neutral toned pumpkins, soft greenery, stem/ vines to complete the look. I love how they flow with the decor of the room, but add a touch of fall whimsy!

+ Organic Items +

By this I mean add something that feels alive. Branches, a beautiful garland, pumpkins for fall or evergreen for the holidays, fresh florals in spring and summer. A touch of nature really grounds your decor.

+ Lighting +

Add sconces, candles, twinkle lights, anything for some added glow. The flicker of the fire paired with pretty lighting on the mantle make for the coziest vibes! These are two awesome options from Amazon led fairy lights or, flameless candles.

+ Scale and different sizing +

Play around with scale, larger pieces help to anchor, smaller items can be dispersed throughout. This adds visual interest and makes the mantle feel finished.

+ Mix Materials +

Once organic items are added, think of adding different textures like pottery, metal, glass, ribbon — anything to add depth and dimension. Velvet is another beautiful option like these velvet gold topped pumpkins or these velvet pumpkins.

+ Whimsy and Interest +
