10 California Getaways For Your Next Anniversary Trip

One of our favorite California getaways and the perfect romantic trip is Malibu, California! The weather is gorgeous and there’s so much to explore. Malibu is 21 miles of coastline, that is hugged by the Pacific Coast Highway.

We usually stay at the same home right on the water. There’s nothing like the ocean crashing right below you while you sleep! I always pack these favorites along with me jewelry case, travel bottles, and this wash bag!

Weekend Southern California Getaways

Malibu has a lot to offer, gorgeous beaches, hikes, the most beautiful sunsets and natural beauty, so many fun areas to explore, great restaurants, and a close proximity to explore all of LA when you want to!

All of the shops, restaurants and the Malibu pier area are mostly located on either side of the highway. It’s such a scenic drive! I highly recommend renting a car so that you can ride along the ocean on Highway 1/Pacific Coast Highway. Malibu has mountains that meet the ocean, and the highway runs through the middle. You can see so much right from your car, and make stops along the way! The coast of California is also great for California getaway kids!

I thought that it might be helpful to share some of our favorite spots, just in case you plan on making a trip there!

Malibu Farm & Malibu Farm Cafe

This restaurant is right on Malibu Pier — there is a full restaurant at the front of the pier, and then a cafe under the same ownership at the end of the pier. We loved this place so much! They have such beautiful and fresh food. The pier is also lovely to walk on with cute shops and the turquoise blue ocean on both sides! Perfect for California weekend getaways!

Malibu Country Mart

This is such a fun shopping center, there are specialty shops, restaurants, as well as well known favorites.

Paradise Cove Beach

This is such a fun beach, there’s a pier and a restaurant here as well. There’s the cutest little cove with seating and beautiful sunset views! Love this spot for California getaways romantic!

El Matador State Beach

Gorgeous beach with rock formations, it’s truly picturesque and feels like you’re far away! I love this for romantic California getaways!

Point Dume

A beautiful hike that is perfect for sunset, overlooking the ocean on a cliffside! Bring along a power bank just in case!

Some other favorite restaurants include Ollo, Nobu, Taverna Tony, Coconut Kitchen, Nicolas Eatery and so many others!

When packing for a getaway I’m sure never to forget a travel pillow and a favorite travel bag set!
