Christmas Memories

I have such vivid memories of my childhood home decorated with Christmas decor. My mama always has (and still does) go to great lengths to make the holidays special for our family. There’s nothing quite like those twinkling lights, and the smell of fresh garland, to bring up such a nostalgic feeling.

I love to remember past years in each of our homes, even early in our marriage, when we would decorate to make every Christmas feel special. I have such a heart for celebrations and holidays, and Christmas especially is very dear to me.

Magic in Every Season

My hope is that in every home, in every season of life, our children can look back on the homes that they lived in and how much thought and care went into making the holidays extra special. I hope that they will take these traditions and make them their own. I already see little glimpses of this with my girls — Adelaide helping to decorate her own bedroom tree, Apple setting sweet tables for us to enjoy, and Ainsleigh having such a creative eye and spirit.

Our new home is still under renovation, but I think that’s really a reflection of the season of life that we are in. Embracing uncertainty, surrendering our plans and trusting in the goodness that awaits us. Hope and trust abound within these walls! We have so much to be grateful for, and I never want to lose sight of that for a moment.

Finding Beauty in the Process

With a renovation underway, it’s still important to me to add in touches of Christmas into our home — even if it’s not quite finished. These years where our children are small at Christmastime are so fleeting, and I am doing my best to embrace the here and now with them.

Our kitchen, though still waiting on counters, sinks and some appliances, has pretty wreaths added to each window. I pictured these windows adorned at Christmastime when we drew up the plans to add them in. I can only imagine the magic to come in future Christmases spent in this kitchen, and all of the christmas decor ideas and fun Christmas decor DIY to follow.

Christmas Decor Ideas DIY Garland and Bows

Our entryway is one of my favorite areas of the house, and the first time that I saw our beautiful staircase, I pictured Christmas garland and bows cascading down! I love seeing these visions turn into reality. I’ve seen so many pretty staircases with garland when searching for Christmas decor ideas 2021 trends.

My office has one of my favorite fireplaces in the home, I also love the herringbone floors in here! There’s something about this space that is just perfect for festive Christmas decorations. This mantle was begging to be decorated, I added garland and of course I incorporated pink! I have plenty of christmas decor ideas for living room and our mantle in there as well! I’m also excited for christmas decor ideas outdoor, once our plans are completed out there! We have so much to look forward to!

Children’s Room Christmas Decor Inspiration

Adelaide’s room is one of my favorite spaces in the house. It’s such a whimsical room, and I wanted to bring that same vibe into the decorations into her room. We pulled some of the colors from her room into the tree decor and added sparkly wreaths. Adelaide was so sweet, circling her tree, adding the ribbon on with such pride!

These are the moments that I never want to forget. The unfinished middle, the life in process, the work in progress. This is where the magic happens!
