It’s such a special time of year for our family with celebrations galore! Most recently, we had Apple and Adelaide’s birthdays. It was really nice to be able to mark the occasion in our new home.
I am so proud of these sweet girls. Apple turned nine and Adelaide five. I truly can’t believe it. Apple will forever feel like the other baby of the family, since she was our youngest for quite a few years, and Adelaide it’s hard to believe that our baby-baby is now such a big girl. Time is flying right on by.
We celebrated our girls birthday party with balloon numbers on the front lawn (a tradition for us!) and a special day for them both. Even though our home is still in transition with the renovation, it still felt wonderful to welcome in our dearest people to celebrate our two youngest! I really enjoy gathering girls birthday party themes, girls birthday party ideas, girls birthday party games, and all of the details together for a special gathering!
Birthdays for me are part celebration, part reflection, lots of gratitude and even a pang of sadness. Sadness for the passage of time, for moving further away from babyhood, for missing those years with small children. Gratitude for their growth, for every moment spent over each of their years, for the privilege to get to be their mama! Reflection on all of the beautiful moments that have led us here.
For so long I remember feeling afraid for my kiddos to get older. I cherished the baby years so very much. They were some of the most special moments of my life, and it’s such a gift to mother them through that season when they need you most. What I’ve found during each passing year, is that it truly gets even sweeter. Watching them grow, being needed in different and equally fulfilling ways, getting to know and witness the people that they are becoming… I wish I could have given myself a glimpse of this when I was so worried about them getting older.
Apple has such a sweet soul and is so very loving and kind. Celebrating her comes easy to all of us, we truly love her to pieces!
Adelaide has SO much personality! She is adored by all of us, and she knows it! We will take any chance to make her feel extra special.
We kept this girls birthday party simple, since we are in transition with our renovation and the kiddos are starting back at school! A sweet table setup, yummy food and treats, special balloons and a celebration with close friends and family.
A few tips that we like to keep in mind for any kid’s party/ girls birthday party ideas:
Involve them in the process! Do they have a specific theme in mind, favorite colors, something special that they really want incorporated? Hear out their ideas and add in what you can!
Keep simple party decor on hand! Girls birthday decorations like Streamers, extra balloons, paper products, candles, anything to make throwing an impromptu celebration simple. Perfect for girls birthday party decorations at home.
Keep an annual tradition. Balloon numbers are a tradition for us, think of something fun from a past birthday party that your kiddo loved, and make it an annual thing! These memories are so special!
Weave in photos! I think this is such a meaningful way to add a special touch at birthday parties. Print a bunch of photos from milestone and sweet moments and lay them out on the table, or frame a few and display near their cake. Simple and special decor that invokes happy memories.
