I am overcome with gratitude to see this home of ours taking shape, and becoming the vision that I held in my mind the first day that we walked through its doors. The time has come that I am finally able to reveal our dining room!
There’s something about a dining room that feels like such a statement for your personal style. It’s an area where we can add special pieces, some of our more treasured heirlooms, and the tone and vibe that we would want to set when hosting a gathering.
One of the most rewarding parts of renovation is the sense of accomplishment and excitement that I feel each time we complete a new room in our home! We are thrilled to have our dining room in the finishing stages. I have many dreams for this space, and gathering with the people that we love most!
Our dining room has come together in stages and has been all about layering! I love to blend antique vintage pieces with new items. I think when a room feels well collected, it has dimension and a warmth to it. This theme runs through our whole home and the dining room is no exception.
I know that overtime, this space will continue to evolve. We’ll add more pieces that are special to our family, I’m sure to have new dining room ideas and dining room inspiration, and with a foundation here that is fairly neutral I feel that I can change certain elements easily without having to do an entire makeover someday. A great tip is to keep things transitional like your dining room table, and neutral when it comes to larger pieces. Add color through art, paint, linens etc. These can be swapped out without too much trouble!
For light fixtures in this space I wanted it to feel quiet, but to still add a glow to the room. One of my favorite elements to this space are the shades of blue. I’ve always loved blue as a classic color that has a sense of whimsy to it. From florals on the table, place settings, vases, a beautiful blue butterfly piece of artwork I’m really loving weaving blue through this space.
The furniture really brought this space together. We have a long table with room for ten, an antique hutch filled with some of our favorite china and glassware, a sideboard with an anthropologie mirror and one of my favorite diffusers adds an additional surface for when we are hosting. Baskets, artwork, table decor, and florals as dining room table centerpieces were layered in to add softness. We had wainscoting/ chair rail added into this room which I feel gives a more formal elevated look.
Another favorite element of this space has to be the Gracious Damask wallpaper! It’s from my Casey Leigh Collection in partnership with Curated Walls. I love the classic, simple whimsy that this wallpaper brings into our dining area.
When turning a house into a home take your time as you add new elements. I often find my favorite rooms feel very collected and layered. There’s an interest and sophistication that comes with curating your spaces in this way.
XO,
Casey Wiegand
