The holidays can feel like such a busy season, but taking the time to slow down and create memories will be what our kids take with us throughout their entire lives. More than the gifts under the tree, the gift of time together makes such a big impact.
Decorate sugar cookies together! They don’t have to be from scratch. Grab a tub of dough, or buy some already baked. All you need is some icing and some sprinkles, and you have the perfect, sweet filled, Christmas afternoon.
Make dough ornaments! There are so many recipes online for salt dough. It comes together super quickly – then you just roll it out and cut it into your favorite cookie shapes. What a fun memory that will last for years to come!
Pop some popcorn, get into your favorite holiday jammies, cozy up under a blanket, and watch your favorite Christmas movie! You could even make a sleeping bag fort and turn on some Christmas lights to make it extra special.
Go look at Christmas lights! Warm up some hot cocoa and pour it into cups with lids, wear something warm and cozy, turn on the Christmas songs, and drive around looking for the craziest house. We love watching our kids take in the wonder of it all.
Make Christmas cards for teachers and neighbors. Get out the construction paper and color crayons – you can even add in glitter and glue if you’re brave – and make a list of people that could use some holiday cheer. Make special notes for them to brighten up their holidays!
Creating these special Christmas memories doesn’t take a lot of time or resources, but it can make the most magical memories for years to come!
