sharing our gifts.
Tonight I sat in a movie theatre along side 200 people and watched my Christopher’s beautiful work.
The lights dimmed and the soft glow of the screen light reflected on people’s faces. I scooted up in my chair and looked around. I soaked in people munching on popcorn and their eyes enthralled with the screen before them.
Tonight every person in that theatre was there to watch his work. His art. The pictures and images and music…everything dancing together for one purpose to entertain, to make people think, to move people’s souls.
2 years ago Chris quit his job ( we had not a dime in our bank account) and he started his own film company. In a two week period he had all the equipment he needed and 2 new computers from the jobs that he booked. Since then he has taken on clients such a Dickies, McDonalds and RedBull. And has made a series of his own short films.
He created his first movie in the 5th grade with 2 VHS players. He came from little and his motto is :
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
― Arthur Ashe
Chris has the gift of taking something simple and creating something amazingly beautiful.
Just yesterday I was talking to Aiden and I said, ” You know Aiden, God has given each of gifts that we are to share with the world. And your daddy’s is that he makes beautiful things. Beautiful Images. He tells stories and he captures people’s hearts. “
I really and truly believe in my heart that we were each given gifts as part of our purpose and sharing those with the world is a way that we can return these gifts to Him.
I could not have been more proud tonight. Through cloudy eyes and a beaming smile I got to see Christopher bless people with his beautiful gift.
In case you have never seen Chris’ work before, I will share a few!
You can see his New York City Time lapse here or our 4th of July fun here!
What a beautiful post and reminder that we can do anything if we put our minds to it, especially when it comes to our natural gifts that were given to us. I am so excited for him! What a wonderful feeling that must be to see people watching your own work! I can only imagine how proud you are of him 🙂
wow. I really just can say that. I read along the lines of your blog, now nearly two years. It´s such a journey, and a whole story how amazing God can bless people following their hearts and taking leaps of faith. Your whole story is a gift to people. Just thank you for making yourself sometimes real vulnerable.you blessed a lot of peole!xxx noni
Love this. Chris seems like a special guy, just like you. He is so very talented. What a blessing! While some talents are not as obvious as others, the Bible tells us that we all possess talents and it's important to use them. Thanks for the reminder, sweet friend! You guys are awesome! 🙂
I completely agree with what you said. I never thought of it until I became a mother. When I think about all I want for my son, I can't help but think about the Heavenly Father and what he wants from us. I truly believe it brings him joy to see his children use the gifts he picked out for us. Its really a form of worship.
Wish we had come! Chris is very talented and so are you! What a blessing that the Lord has placed conviction in your heart to actually use your gifts and have pure faith that he will always provide for your family. It is a testimony not spoken often enough.
that's beautiful Casey. i love reading about people going after their passions and dreams. so good that you and him are following those! i'm sure it fills your heart to the brim!
Gah! In my quiet time not too long ago I completely felt the Lord impress the same thing on my heart…He gives us our gifts so that we can reach specific people in that realm that no one else can. I felt like I understood in some small way how much His heart aches when people disregard their talents for jobs with money and lose out on all of the people the Lord intends for us to know. I never want to find myself before Him, returning the precious gifts He gave unscathed and unused.
On another note…really amazing what your husband has done and I am sure he is inspiring others to do the same.

I love this! My husband is a creator too (musician), and it warms my heart to see him using his God given talent!
